Worcestershire Parent and Carers’ Community receives £1200 donation from law firm’s Charitable Trust

HCRCT support WPCCThe Charitable Trust of leading law firm, Harrison Clark Rickerbys, recently donated £1200 to Worcestershire Parent and Carers’ Community (WPCC) in order to fund respite breaks for up to 200 members.

WPCC was founded in 2007 and supports Worcestershire parents and carers who have children with a disability or additional needs. The charity provides monthly respite breaks to sustain families in their caring roles; is a voice for parents and carers in a representational role; and offers support to the whole family.

The charity provides vital support to over 1000 individuals from a total of 180 families and its main aim is to bring families out of isolation by providing family based activity days, ensuring that families who have a child with additional needs are able to enjoy quality time together alongside other families within their community.

Anne Duddington, WPCC, said; “As a small, local charity, The Worcestershire Parent and Carers’ Community relies on the generosity of local businesses and organisations for funding to help support our family events. These events are a lifeline of support to so many families. We are so grateful to Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ Charitable Trust for its donation and for supporting the work we do. It is fantastic to see a local business supporting its local community in this way and their donation will make such a difference to so many families. On behalf of all of our families, I would like to say a huge thank you!”

Jonathan Brew, Senior Partner at Harrison Clark Rickerbys and Trustee of Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ Charitable Trust, said; “It is no secret that families with children who have disabilities are under severe pressure. The provision of short respite breaks and family support therefore helps to remove their sense of social, financial and emotional isolation and helps keep families together. WPCC is unique in that it supports the whole family, including siblings and kinship carers, in addition to the children with disabilities.”

Jonathan continued; “Due to a lack of Government funding charities such as WPCC rely on donations such as ours to continue their fantastic work. As a firm whose head office has been based in Worcester since 1904, we are very keen to support such wonderful local causes and it has been a pleasure to witness the work that WPCC do within the community.”

Since it was formed, Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ Charitable trust has raised and donated over £186,000, helping numerous worthy causes over the Three Counties of Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.
