The Yorkshire-based garden products supplier has reported fantastic uptake of its innovative Eco Garden collection – which includes stylish planters, easy-install decking, and decorative stepping-stones and borders made from recycled rubber – as retailers maximise great sales opportunities and the chance to build an offer that suits their demographic and recognised sales patterns.
Primeur puts the success of Eco Garden down to the range’s award-winning and sustainable credentials, combined with flexible merchandising solutions, and curated content that caters to customer demand.
To develop this success further, the Primeur team has been working closely with retailers, developing successful relationships that have proved beneficial for all involved. Taking time to listen to sellers and tailor an offer and merchandising solutions to meet their needs and those of their customers, has seen demand soar across the board.
“Sales have been phenomenal,” says Primeur Sales Director, Jenny Douthwaite, “Merchandising stands are working really well for us. They have delivered impressive results, helping products fly out the door and garnering a great response from the market.”
Last year, Primeur introduced a more streamlined merchandising unit for its Recycled Rubber Garden Borders and Stepping-Stones Collection. The attractive new Eco Garden display, occupying a footprint of just 0.8m², was warmly welcomed by retailers and resulted in a huge roll out across retail outlets, with sales increasing fourfold.
The freestanding units are supplied fully built, stocked with product and have been refreshed for 2022 to clearly highlight USPs, including all-weather durability, ease of installation and impressive green credentials, as well as boasting inspirational imagery. The biggest change for retailers was the added flexibility the smaller unit brings, with the ability to showcase Primeur’s innovative lines in high-traffic areas and key locations in store such as alongside complementary product groups, rather than being restricted to siting ranges outside with bulkier landscaping items.
Following on from this fantastic growth generated by the new bespoke display, Primeur has announced further enhancements to its merchandising solutions, which look set to boost retailer’s profitability even more. First up are the all-new pallet display units, which Jenny Douthwaite describes as “a great addition for the new season”.
The leading garden products supplier always recommends that best-selling ranges are merchandised in large pallet displays, which provide plenty of stock to meet demand and boast striking POS material that stop shoppers in their tracks. With great visuals and clear messaging that is dedicated to showcasing the application and eco-credentials of each of the Eco Garden products on offer, the new pallet units are a great way to kick-start the season and top-up your stock holding ahead of peak sales. This will ensure customers can access everything they need to complete their garden projects and won’t leave disappointed.
Primeur is also working with retailers to ensure that their stock holding reflects their own individual sales patterns. There’s no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to retailing and Primeur understands that taking a more tailored approach to stock refills will help boost sales amongst the products that are more popular amongst a retailer’s customer base. Rather than simply providing a pre-stocked unit, including a mix of products that don’t all hold the same appeal to a seller’s demographic, the aim is to help identify retailer’s bestsellers and make sure that the stock density is available when it is needed most.
Staying ahead of the curve with innovative products
Of course, without the right ranges, these stands wouldn’t necessarily have the same impact. The winning combination of clever merchandising solutions and ground-breaking, high-performance, sustainable products is what continues to deliver significant growth for the company and outstanding sales for retail customers.
The use of recycled rubber not only has a hugely positive impact on the environment, but also creates garden products that harness the strength and durability of that source material. With outstanding weather resistance and little maintenance required, Primeur’s Eco Garden ranges are virtually indestructible but also give gardeners peace of mind that they are using a safer alternative to traditional materials, thanks to a softer surface and the fact that all items are non-toxic and plant safe.
Demand has been fantastic across the board this past year, although naturally, there have been some stand-out lines and colours, as Primeur continues to tap into prominent consumer trends and décor styles. “Overall, grey remains the most popular colour choice,” explains Jenny, “a movement that is very much in keeping with what many are continuing to see in home and garden schemes. In garden borders, Scallop Grey and Roman Stone are selling particularly well, whilst the wood-effect Railroad Tie stepping-stones in Earth and Grey colourways are currently the best performers in that category.”
In Primeur’s popular eco planter line, the Sonata Collection is emerging as a firm favourite, with customers snapping up the pots in all three sizes available. “New customers tend to lean towards the smaller sizes – so, 33cm and 50cm – initially, as they are cheaper,” says Jenny Douthwaite. ”However, as soon as they see how great the Sonata planters are, they come back for the 70cm!”
