Get ready for new peat-free introductions from RocketGro

RocketGro may be a relatively new name within the world of peat-free growing media, but the team isn’t wasting any time in setting a new standard for the presentation, innovation and breadth of peat-free products being brought to market. Demonstrative of this are the four brand new products set to join the line-up ahead of the new 2023 season.

RocketGro’s exciting new 2023 additions – Peat-Free Seed & Cutting Compost with added John Innes, Peat-Free Multi-Purpose Compost with added John Innes, Peat-Free Container & Basket Compost and Peat-Free Beds & Borders Compost – are the result of two key elements for the brand: extensive research and a greater understanding regarding the substrates that are used to give RocketGro products a unique point of difference.

The real alternative

Promising a “real alternative” to those growing media brands that have been sat on garden centre shelves for so long, RocketGro is working hard to demonstrate to garden retailers that visibility of material and processes isn’t just another marketing strategy but something that can and will make a difference in the retail environment, particularly as consumers become more environmentally responsible.

Only adding the best

RocketGro’s highly-effective, professional grade compost blends all benefit from the inclusion of sustainable digestate fibre/composted maize, rye and grass. But, unlike other products on the market, this is not a bought-in benefit! This digestate is, in fact, a by-product of renewable bio-gas production from the company’s own Somerset-based farm. This approach to circular economy production and usage makes RocketGro products uniquely different. Meanwhile, continued development of the digestate results in products that consistently deliver and have the added benefit of improvements being made every season.

For 2023, a longer maturation of the digestate – coupled with the inclusion of new invaluable substrates, such as wood chip and John Innes – means these new additions will offer some of the best results on the market today: something that RocketGro is confident that independent trials at Stockbridge Technology Centre will definitively prove later this year.

RocketGro Director, Toby Thomas said: “RocketGro has a low-carbon, peat-free, 100%-sustainable, Soil Association-approved, UK-grown, -manufactured, -sourced and -produced eco story that is hard to match. With a 12-strong product portfolio, that is continually evolving, we are creating a brand offering that is currently unmatched in this industry. Peat-free growing media isn’t just part of what we do, it’s the very heart of RocketGro and we know that this matters to both retailers and consumers. To those who don’t believe this to be true, watch this space, as we’ll gladly tell you why it should!

“We firmly believe that partnering with RocketGro and stocking our products will enable garden centres and nurseries to work with a reliable and supportive independent peat-free compost manufacturer that has the scale, investment and manpower in place to become the leading affordable, quality, 100% peat-free-only compost producer in the UK. Trust me when I say that we will not deviate from this path!”

In addition to adding four new products to its portfolio, RocketGro has further enhanced its product development team with the recent appointment of two leading independent consultants, who boast more than 80 years of combined horticultural and growing media experience.

Priced to sell

Toby concluded: “Good peat-free compost does not need to be the most expensive on the market, which is why we offer a delivered wholesale price of £3.10-£3.40 for 2023 for a ‘fair fill’ 50-litre bag. This clear cost structure is demonstrative of RocketGro’s commitment to gaining market share by providing garden centres and nurseries with an extremely competitive price point, with a ‘no mid-season price rise guarantee’.”

Notes to editors:

RocketGro was founded in early 2021, born out of a meeting of minds of two friends, Tim and Toby. Tim’s family have been successfully farming on their 5000-acre farm in the heart of Somerset for over 100 years. The farm produces an amazingly rich soil nourishing organic by-product from their biogas plant. The biogas powers thousands of homes, and until RocketGro was born, this by-product was only spread over the farmland meaning the farm could avoid using chemical fertilisers.

Tim wanted to share this wonder product with gardeners all over the UK and he approached Toby to help him make this dream come true. RocketGro was born.

The RocketGro mission is to help gardeners move away from peat and therefore do our bit to help the environment. Our fabulous range of products are a near total solution to any gardeners needs and the range is growing out even further. RocketGro put a great deal of care and effort into producing our premium growing media products and aim to produce the finest compost products in a sustainable and nature loving eco-friendly way. Gardeners who become ‘RocketGrowers’ will see the difference.
